The Crucible

The Crucible is a play that was written by the author named Arthur Miller. This play is basically a replica of the Salem Witch Trials that was in Massachusetts Bay in 1692-1693. This play is really based on governmental things like communism as an example. The first time this play was ever performed was on January 22, 1953.

People that were in this town to me did not really have a good sense of judgment. Witchcraft was the main reason that people got killed in their towns. If you were accused of practicing witchcraft and you did not confess you were hung even if you were not practicing it. But if you do confess you are let free so this really did not make any kind of sense to me. Either way it goes, you were still killed because people did not like witchcraft at all. The people in their town were all about god and religious things.

The characters in this story all had interesting roles. People would set others up so that they could be killed. Like in act IV of the play, they had a lot of these women acting like they were being possessed by a demon because of one girl. that one girl caused all of that commotion for no reason really she had just ended up running away anyway. She just got people killed for no reason, so it is like alot of these characters are very interesting to me.

The way this play had went connected with each other. Each play had really connected with the Act before, so that you really could understand the whole play. There was always conflict with people so you were always interested in the play. I think this is why the play was so much of a hit. So many people of my age group now get to read things like this is just good, so we can see good writing.

Since this story was really based on a true story it had real setting to it. This story took place in the 17th century so the setting was key. They had to get the right spot and they had to make it look like it was back in those days. The biggest part was good in this play was that the weather played a big part. The weather was basically with all of the moods in the play.

When you try and stay away fro things it is the easiest to get caught up in. That is pretty much what happened in this play if you think about it. Because John had went to keep away from the trials, but what happened? He could not do that so well. HE did not want a part of the trials whether it was good or bad. But as you see he had got the bad of it, no matter how hard he tried to stay away. When Elizabeth was arrested he had no choice but to be in it. This play can be kind of weird at times but it is truly a good play.

internet essay

The internet is a way for people to get work done, entertain yourself etc. There are many stereotypes about the internet in my opinion. Ex, “Ten years ago, the Internet was practically unheard of by most people.” Page 127 , see how far the internet has came in 10 years . The internet is a lot of complex information space that reflects much of the variety of our physical world. The internet is a very remarkable virtual world, and is ran by a democratic group and a technical organization.

         

The internet is basically an network of networks that can connect to information within the network. Ex, “They claim to not use the Internet because they are afraid of the possible consequences or are simply not interested.” Page 127 , people are afraid of what lies behind the internet world. Without the internet, people would not be able to get a lot of information, like stats etc.  The internet has everything you can think of on it. In order for the internet to work you have to have analogue telephone signals to connect to the internet.  To get these signals, you have to have a modem of some sort to get any kind of signal.

The internet has a lot of advantages to it. Its very simple and easy to learn how to use the internet if you have a little time and patients. People from across the world can literally talk to one another, just by using the internet. Without the internet we wouldn’t be able to do a lot of things in this world. For example the internet saves people a lot of money because instead of traveling for a meeting you can do video chat instead.

The internet is GREAT for Advertisement. People can really make a lot of money using this source. Business’s can use the internet to sell their product and advertise where their stores are. Any business can build their own website, it will just take some money to do so. With the businesses online this makes normal peoples lives better than what it really is. So they can really just stay home and shop and won’t have to go out anywhere at all.

Another good thing about the internet is that they provide E-mail (electronic mail). This allows a person to send things instantly to you without waiting a long time. This is way better than postal mail because it is faster and free. You can really send anything through e-mail like music, pictures, etc. One more good thing about e-mail is that you can send an e-mail to more than one person  at a time.

Sometimes the internet is not a safe place, like social websites. People put their address information and stuff on the internet and that’s really not a good idea.  Any body can look at that and pop up at your house and try to kid nap you or something. There are crazy people out there that would do things like that so you have to be careful about what you put on the internet. So you should always be aware of what you are putting out there at least be aware of what you are getting yourself into. Ex. “He was charged with 290 counts of child pornography” page 128 , this comes from the internet and shows what people are like.

         

The internet is good for teenagers that are putting an effort for school. There are a lot of scholarship opportunities and ways to get into college through the web. This gives you a lot of information about colleges and what you need to know to try and get in. Without the internet you wouldn’t get a chance to see what schools ad to offer to you. With this you can know every and anything you want to know about schools across the whole country and will not have to worry about traveling anywhere.

Winter Break

My winter break was long , very long and some what of fun. I wasnt really ready to come back to school. I was starting to enjoy going to sleep late and waking up late. I would goto sleep at about 3 in the am and wake up at about one or two o' clock pm. I kind of got used to doing that so I was almost late to getting  to school this morning. I was so tired and im tired while i am writing this essay.

 This break i had went to the mall alot with friends and i had went to the movies a couple of times. Alot of interesting things  had happened over this winter break. t was really cold and alot of rain was in LA. Christmas day was great, i was with all of my family that day and we had ate good on Christmas and New years. On New years eve we had stayed outside talked and played basketball until it was
New years Day. New years it was very loud, when 12 o'clock hit all i heard were gunshots and fireworks and people honking their horns. On New years day alot of my family came to my house and my mom had made gumbo for dinner.

Usc essay

Usc students have come to help us learn our history. Pretty much about the Native Americans. We now know what their lives were like suprises. They did not know what was in store for them in the future.

The Natives originally came from the north and not the south as some people would have thought they did. People say that the Natives have came from the mekenzie quaters. These had melted during the Ice Ages,  so the Natives had moved south. The Natives moved south because there were better food resources if you had moved south. They had mostly ate fish, but their other foods were buffalo, corn, and patatoes.

Christopher Columbus was the person that had discovered Native Americans. He was really interested in the way there skin color was darker than most people he has seen. He was an selfish and greedy man, they did the Natives bad! They came  to a place that wasn't even theirs and tried to take it over by force.

The Natives trade a lot so that they can get things they needed. The people that I know of they traded were with the Europeans. The food that the Europeans had carried over to the Natives brought new diseases to the Native people. The Natives were free of diseases until Europeans traded their goods to the Natives. The Natives did not even know what they had got into as far as diseases because they didn't know what that was.

I think this was wrong for the Europeans to do to the Natives because the Natives weren't aware. I think if the Natives were more aware they would of been more cautious. This is what had wiped out a lot of the Native race. The Europeans could have been more nice and told them there were things that they needed to be worried about.

On thing that was really wrong is how they just took over the Natives land. I mean I can see if you were there first but they were not there first. They didn't just come up and ask for it or give them nothing for it they took it by force. The Natives didn't have force like the Europeans so they couldn't really defend themselves. I think if they were more prepared that wouldn't have happened like that. They  would of still had all of their land.

What is an American?

There are many Americans in this world, some wealthy some poor anything you can think of. Americans come in all shapes, colors, sizes, but it really doesn't matter because you're still an American. A lot of people come to America to become and American because they might not like their country because of the rules or anything that might be. We have many immigrants in our country too.

America is like a get away spot for people from different countries, it is basically everyone's paradise. Some countries have rules they have to follow while the United States of America you can do anything you want and more. If I were an immigrant I would want to come here too just because this country is so free. However you have to get legal documentation to be able to come the the United States anyway. There are too many immigrants that live out here that are trying to be Americans or just trying to get away. People are really getting deported back to their own countries if they are not legal here because it's just too many people in Los Angeles.

Back in the 1700's people from Europe and all over came to North America to escape from their own country. They did that so they can have a better life for themselves and be free  with not so many rules to their lives. A lot of people came for religious reasons because it is a free country, yo can believe in what you want instead of believing what someone else thinks is right and not expressing yourself. You can speak more when  you're an American, because if you were in another country , you could possibly get punished for things that you might say or do. People actually dream about living in the United States to  be FREE.

The different types of Americans there is are African-Americans, Caucasian, and Native Americans. I think there are more than these three but I really can not say all of them right this moment. To be an American from another country you have to get your green card or you will NOT be legal. I am not sure how the process is but i don't think that it is that hard to get legal documentation. Might as well go through the hassle so you will not be deported back to your original country.

Most Americans are really helpful people, a lot but not all. Americans have helped people all across this world if you really want to know. America will help out the poor people of different countries because they just do not have anything. People say Americans are really selfish people, I would agree to some extent but ll of us are not like that. America is the best resource for any one! They have all the things you may or may not need and more. Americans are not so bad, and some Americans are not so good.

Academic Autobiography

My Mom and Dad both support me tremendously in my academic studies. They are always there to help me when I need help with school if something is not right with my grades or if I'm having trouble with anything else. They always push me to do better than what i am already doing so that i can stay ahead of what i am doing to prepare me for the next level.


I did really well in Elementary and in my Middle school years, and still maintaining that good work in High School. I went to 24th Street Elementary and Jonnie L. Cochran/Mount Vernon junior High School.  I graduated from both of these schools and i still keep in touch with some of my teachers. 24th street School was located on 24th street and western, and Jonnie L. Cochran middle school was located on Crenshaw and Washington right down the street from here, West Adams. Both of these schools are not far from my house at all that's why i did not mind going to both of these schools on top of that i enoyed them.                                                                                                                                                               
My favorite subject in school is math, I've always liked math ever since Elementary school. I am currently in Calculus in the 11th grade, I love dealing with numbers and money that is why i really like math. The most influential teacher I know is my advisory/ science teacher from middle school. She would always give me extra help when i did or did not need help that is what i really liked about her. I still keep in touch with her sometimes. I go to Mount Vernon and visit her to see how she's doing and she still helps me out with my work if i ask her to. She is one of the reasons why I wanted to do good in school because she helped me out so much I didn't want to let her down.

In the future, I see my self in a four year college playing sports and want to get my diploma. I really want to major in business like i said before, I love money and  really think  I would be good at it because of the level math that I am in. I would describe myself as the laid back student that gets their work done on time. I was always and English speaker and I learned how to write at about kindergarten or preschool. To say the least, I think I have had a good life with education.

In junior high, my English grades ranged from about A's-C's. To be honest I never really liked English because i do not like writing or reading a lot. I mean i can read and write but just not something i can see my self doing. But other than that I always maintained a good grade and that's all that counts. The only reason I understand why i am doing English is that i can become a better speaker and i can get a good job if I present my self well and use big words. And I really do not have much more to say.
